Kanu Island is located 22 miles off the coast of Belize, nestled in the heart of the Caribbean Sea. There are three different routes to choose from for the helicopter transfer from the Belize International Airport to Kanu Island Resort:
Option 1: Direct Route to Kanu Island Resort (Blue Route)
Upon leaving from the Belize International Airport, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of the Belize and Sibun Rivers. As you soar through the skies, you’ll pass over vast savannahs and the lush tropical jungles, breathing in the fresh air of the open green territory. Continuing along, you’ll fly over the Northern & Southern Lagoons, before catching panoramic views of the mountains and the southern towns of Dangriga and Hopkins. Your scenic journey concludes with a smooth landing at the serene Kanu Island Resort.
Option 2: Transfer via Victoria Peak to Kanu Island Resort (Red Route)
As you depart from Belize International Airport, your flight will take you over the majestic mainland, soaring over rivers, lagoons, and caves. First, you’ll glide over the winding Sibun River, with its many twists and turns, before heading toward the picturesque Manatee Caves. The adventure continues as you cross the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge area, offering a bird’s-eye view of Victoria Peak, the second-highest elevation in Belize at 3,675 feet. Surrounded by tropical rainforest, this mountain is located within the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, renowned for being the world’s first Jaguar Reserve. Your flight will then take you on the final leg of your journey, bringing you to your destination at Kanu Island Resort.
Option 3: Reef Flight Transfer to Kanu Island Resort (Orange Route)
As you depart from the Belize International Airport, your flight will take you directly over the world’s second-largest barrier reef, Belize’s Barrier Reef. Stretching for more than 185 miles along the coast and extending 50 miles offshore, this incredible reef complex is a true treasure within the Caribbean. As you fly along the reef, you’ll be lucky enough to catch glimpses of sunbathing manatees or ones swimming gracefully near the Cayes. Your flight will pass over Ramsey’s Caye, Long Caye, Tobacco Caye, and South Water Caye, among others. Keep an eye on the clear waters below, where you may spot dolphins, stingrays, or even sharks.
