GÄIA RIVER LODGE
Helicopter Transfers with Breath Taking Views en-route Gaia River Lodge
Transfer landing at Privassion Airstrip which is located deep in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve overlooking the gentle rapids and shimmering waterfalls of the Privassion Creek; set within the 770 kilometers Mountain Pine Forest Reserve. What better way to get there than by a thrilling sight- seeing helicopter ride to the lodge.
They are two different scenic routes to choose from for the helicopter transfer from the Belize International Airport to the lodge.
Option 1: Direct Route to Privassion Airstrip (Blue Route)
As you depart from the Belize International Airport sit back and allow yourself to take in the picture-perfect view of the mainland as you soar over rivers and caves. Your flight first takes you over the winding Sibun River with its many twist and turns. You then fly over Caves Branch where you will be able to see the beauty of the river as it flows through the cave system. Ahead of Caves Branch lays the deep forest of Mountain Pine Ridge. The Mountain Pine Ridge is 300 square miles of forest reserve home to the Hidden Valley Falls (1,000 Foot-Falls), the Rio On River, the Rio Pools, and the Rio Frio Cave and Nature Trail, as well as numerous small streams and waterfalls. Your flight comes to an end as you arrive at your final destination – Privassion Airstrip.
Option 2: Transfer via 1000 ft Falls to Privassion Airstrip (Red Route)
As you depart from the Belize International Airport your flight first takes you over Burdon Canal, which flows into Northern lagoon, home to birds such as Herons, white Ibis and the common Black Hawk. Your flight continues as you fly over Sibun River Reserves. You then fly over Caves Branch where you will be able to see the beauty of the river as it flows through the cave system. This area encompasses 58,000 acres that are situated beneath a 100 ft rainforest canopy and is bordered by the turquoise waters of Caves Branch River. Ahead of Caves Branch lays the deep forest of Mountain Pine Ridge. Not long after your eyes start to dazzle at the sparkling water that runs from the largest waterfall in Belize and Central America; called 1000 ft Falls, even though the name suggest otherwise, this waterfall is closer to 1600 feet. You will get a view of the entire falls, which is totally unlike the ground tour where you never get to see the falls in its entirety while floating from above. Your flight comes to an end as you arrive at your final destination – Privassion Airstrip.
